BMW unveils i8 hydrogen fuel cell research vehicle
BMW has introduced the i8 hydrogen fuel cell research vehicle during the BMW Group Innovation Days 2015.

The underpinnings are the same ones that served as a foundation for the i8, but instead of the plug-in hybrid setup this sinister-looking car adopts a hydrogen fuel cell setup. As a consequence, it has lost the three-cylinder 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine and instead it gained a fuel stack.

The three-row BR-V was developed by Honda R&D Asia Pacific in Thailand and styled with a "tough and solid" body and will be shown as a prototype at the Indonesian Auto Show next month. The production version is due next year and will be offered with a 1.5-liter gasoline engine teamed up with a choice of two gearboxes.

Obviously, Audi wants a piece of the action which is why last month they reconfirmed plans to come out with an Q8 based on the second generation Q7 but "more emotional and more sporty."
