2016 Ford Focus RS goes into production
The first 2016 Ford Focus RS has rolled off the assembly line in Saarlouis, Germany.
Set to arrive at U.S. dealerships this spring, the high-performance hatchback has an aggressive front fascia with HID headlights, a revised grille, and a front splitter. The model also has a dual exhaust system, a rear diffuser, and 19-inch alloy wheels with Michelin Super Sport summer tires.
Abarth 500X expected to have AWD and 170 hp
A new report indicates Abarth has plans to launch the beefier Fiat 500X sometime in 2017.
Abarth has already confirmed a punchier iteration of the 500X is on its way and now Autocar has managed to find out more details about the model. It??™s apparently due in 2017 following next year??™s release of the Abarth 124 Spider, and will be offered with the 1.4-liter MultiAir II engine used on other models sold by Fiat. In this application, the engine will develop around 170 hp (127 kW) and will work exclusively with an all-wheel drive arrangement.
2017 Honda Civic Si could have around 230 hp
Sources close to Honda that wish to remain anonymous have acquired some preliminary details about the warm Civic Type S.
Honda is working on a Type S version of the all-new Civic, but it won??™t be out for the 2016 model year as the guys from the CivicX forums have managed to find out it??™s going to be a 2017MY. It??™s scheduled to go on sale in the late fall 2016 - early spring 2017 interval.

Serving as foundation for the attached speculative render were the spy shots that emerged at the beginning of the month showing an undisguised pre-production prototype.
Volkswagen Phaeton officially delayed due to investment cuts
Volkswagen has announced the second-gen Phaeton will be delayed due to massive investment cuts necessary to face the ongoing Dieselgate.
It was about a month ago when Volkswagen was talking about the all-electric Phaeton and its ???emotional design???, but now they have revealed the flagship model will be delayed. This comes as a surprise since CEO Matthias M?ller said the Phaeton is a necessity for Asian markets, thus indicating it won??™t be one of the models put on the back burner. To be more exact, VAG announced they will cancel and postpone projects that are not entirely necessary, and originally the Phaeton wasn??™t on the list.
Toyota 86 Blackline Edition brings sporty styling to Australia
Toyota has introduced the new 86 Blackline Edition in Australia.
Drawing inspiration from motorsport, the special edition has a White Liquid exterior with black stripes on the hood and roof. The coupe has also been equipped with a TRD body kit that includes a front spoiler, revised side skirts, a three-piece rear spoiler, and a sportier rear bumper. Buyers will also find HID headlights, LED daytime running lamps, and smart keyless entry system.
Chevrolet Bolt production model reportedly headed to CES
General Motor's Executive Vice President of Global Product Development has reportedly announced the 2017 Chevrolet Bolt will be unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show.
The timing hasn't been confirmed but GM CEO Mary Barra will deliver the keynote address at CES on January 6th so an official unveiling would make sense.
Mansory creates new styling pack for Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG Coupe
Mansory is back with another cosmetic kit tailored to the Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG Coupe.
The tuner's latest attempt to make the high-performance coupe more appealing includes a newly developed body kit manufactured from carbon fiber. It encompasses a front spoiler add-on with air intakes and built-in LED lights while the front fenders have gained new air outlets. Mansory has also installed a new dual vented hood, beefier side skirts, a roof spoiler and a large rear wing - all made from carbon fiber.
GMC Canyon Denali reportedly green-lighted
Several GMC officials have reportedly confirmed plans for a Canyon Denali.
Speaking to Car & Driver, GMC representatives revealed the luxury-oriented pickup will be added to the lineup when the Canyon receives its mid-cycle refreshing. No time frame was given but the truck is relatively new so it wouldn't be surprising if a Canyon Denali is still a couple of years off.
Nissan introduces 428 bhp Patrol NISMO in Dubai to celebrate NISMO
Nissan has taken the wraps off a NISMO-prepared Patrol during a special event organized in Dubai, UAE.
The unveiling coincides with the introduction of the NISMO performance brand in the Middle East where the 370Z NISMO and the GT-R NISMO will also be sold. It comes as a surprise that Nissan has decided to launch a sportier version of its large and heavy SUV, but they believe there is a market for a hotter Patrol tricked out by the firm's in-house performance division.
Report says Volkswagen cheated during European emissions tests as well
German media is reporting Volkswagen had the illegal software turned on during emissions tests in Europe as well.
Last week we heard Volkswagen saying they don't know whether the so-called "defeat device" was active during emissions testing of Euro-spec cars, but now a report issued by German daily Sueddeutsche Zeitung mentions VW has finally admitted it was indeed turned on for 8 million TDI EA189-powered cars sold in the European Union.
Mercedes CLC four-door coupe reportedly in the works
According to a recent report, Mercedes is creating a new CLC four-door coupe.
Designed to slot between the CLA and CLS, the CLC will reportedly be based on the long-wheelbase C-Class and feature sporty styling as well as a roomy interior.

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles is spicing up its UK offerings by introducing an Atacama special edition of the Amarok.
Named after a large desert area in South America, the limited-run Amarok comes as standard with bi-xenon headlights and is available only with the punchy 180 PS & 420 Nm 2.0-liter bi-turbodiesel engine mated to either a six-speed manual or an eight-speed automatic gearbox sending power to a 4MOTION all-wheel drive system which is selectable on the manual model and permanent if you go for the auto 'box.

Mercedes has announced the facelifted A-Class will be priced from ?23,746.45 in Germany.
Currently available to order, the facelifted model costs between ?184.45 - ?892.50 more than its predecessor but features a number of improvements including revised styling, an updated infotainment system and a revised instrument cluster - among other things.
BMW unveils i8 hydrogen fuel cell research vehicle
BMW has introduced the i8 hydrogen fuel cell research vehicle during the BMW Group Innovation Days 2015.
They did a very good job at keeping this a secret as it's only now we get to hear about a research vehicle that was largely completed back in 2012. The underpinnings are the same ones that served as a foundation for the i8, but instead of the plug-in hybrid setup this sinister-looking car adopts a hydrogen fuel cell setup. As a consequence, it has lost the three-cylinder 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine and instead it gained a fuel stack.
Honda BR-V seven-seat crossover rendered based on official sketch
The upcoming Honda BR-V has been digitally imagined ahead of next month's official introduction.
Honda is cooking up a Bold Runabout Vehicle (BR-V) for Asian markets and chances are it will be a stretched, seven-seat version of the XR-V sold only in China. Seen here is a speculative render based on an official teaser sketch released at the beginning of this week when Honda described the model as a "new generation crossover utility vehicle."
The three-row BR-V was developed by Honda R&D Asia Pacific in Thailand and styled with a "tough and solid" body and will be shown as a prototype at the Indonesian Auto Show next month. The production version is due next year and will be offered with a 1.5-liter gasoline engine teamed up with a choice of two gearboxes.
2016 Chevrolet Malibu Hybrid fuel economy rating announced
GM President Dan Ammann has announced the 2016 Chevrolet Malibu Hybrid will have an estimated fuel economy rating of 48 mpg city / 45 mpg highway / 47 mpg combined.
Set to go on sale in the spring of 2016, the Malibu Hybrid features a 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine and a two-motor drive unit that is similar to the one used in the Chevrolet Volt. This setup enables the model to produce a combined maximum output of 182 bhp (136 kW).
Mercedes G65 AMG headed to the US, will cost $217,900
Mercedes introduced the G65 AMG nearly three years ago but the company has just announced plans to offer the model in the United States.
Set to go on sale in November, the 2016 G65 AMG features a twin-turbo 6.0-liter V12 engine that produces 621 bhp (463 kW) and 738 lb-ft (999 Nm) of torque. It enables the SUV to accelerate from 0-60 mph in approximately 5.3 seconds.
