2016 Ford Focus RS goes into production

The first 2016 Ford Focus RS has rolled off the assembly line in Saarlouis, Germany.

Set to arrive at U.S. dealerships this spring, the high-performance hatchback has an aggressive front fascia with HID headlights, a revised grille, and a front splitter. The model also has a dual exhaust system, a rear diffuser, and 19-inch alloy wheels with Michelin Super Sport summer tires.

The interior echoes the standard model but comes nicely equipped with Recaro sport seats, leather upholstery, and a SYNC 3 infotainment system. Drivers will also find a dual-zone automatic climate control system, a special gear knob, and a keyless entry system with a push-button ignition. Other highlights include RS-branded door sill plates, unique floor mats, and a 10-speaker Sony audio system.

Power is provided by a 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine that produces 350 horsepower and 350 pound-feet of torque. It is connected to a six-speed manual transmission and all-wheel drive system with dynamic torque vectoring function. This enables the model to accelerate from 0-62 miles per hour in just 4.7 seconds.

The Ford Focus RS will be priced from $35,730 in the United States excluding an $875 destination charge.
