New Volvo S60 reportedly coming in 2017 or 2018

Motor Trend is reporting the next-generation Volvo S60 could arrive as early as 2017 or 2018.

Little is known about the model but it is expected to feature an upscale design that follows in the footsteps of the S90. This means we can expect to see a stylish sedan with soft curves and optional Thor??™s Hammer LED headlights.

Volvo North America CEO Lex Kerssemakers also confirmed the next-generation S60 will continue to be offered with short- and long-wheelbases. He went on to say he expects the long-wheelbase variant will be more popular than today's S60 Inscription as ???Nobody says no to [extra] space in the United States."

The next S60 is also expected to be more advanced than today's model. Nothing is official but higher-end variants will likely be equipped with the 9.3-inch Sensus infotainment system from the S90 and XC90. The car could also be equipped with sem-autonomous driving technology.

Engine options remain unconfirmed but the publication is reporting there will be several different options including a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder with approximately 250 horsepower. We can also expect a plug-in hybrid variant and possibly an entry-level model with a turbocharged three-cylinder engine.
Buyers looking for something more powerful will reportedly be able to order a high-performance model with a turbocharged and supercharged four-cylinder engine that develops more than 300 hp.
