Mercedes C-Class Plug-in Hybrid could return 117.6 mpg

Mercedes' Head of Development for the C-Class Estate has revealed some new details about the C-Class Plug-in Hybrid.

In an interview with Motoring, Ralf Rossmanith said the model is still undergoing testing but has returned a fuel economy rating of approximately 2.0L/100km (117.6 mpg US / 141.2 mpg UK) with CO2 emissions of less than 50 g/km. Final specifications are still pending but Rossmanith said the model currently has a 30 km (18.6 miles) electric-only range but that could be increased to 50 km (31 miles) for the Chinese market.

Mercedes is still keeping technical specifications under wraps but the car is expected to feature a 211 PS (155 kW) turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder petrol, a 68 PS (50 kW) electric motor and a lithium-ion battery.
