Alfa Romeo boss hints at a high-performance 4C - report

Alfa Romeo CEO Harald Wester has revealed the company could offer a high-performance 4C.

Speaking to Car & Driver, Wester said the turbocharged 1.75-liter four-cylinder engine is "only at 136 horsepower per liter, so there is space" for additional power. The executive went on to say the car's carbon fiber monocoque can handle some extra oomph but the company would add high-performance brakes to match the upgraded engine.

Wester declined to say how much the engine could produce but it currently develops 240 PS (176 kW) and 258 lb-ft (350 Nm) of torque. This enables the model to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 4.5 seconds and hit a top speed in excess of 250 km/h (155 mph).
