Xiaomi's new YU7 crossover sells 3 times better than SU7 sedan
On the eve of the premiere of the second electric car Xiaomi - crossover YU7. Already the first hours of sales showed incredible interest from the buyers to the direct competitor Tesla Model Y, which for a long time was the king of the Chinese market.
The company reports that pre-orders reached 200,000 cars just three minutes after the launch, and nearly 289,000 an hour later. Xiaomi head Lei Jun said he expected three times more demand for the YU7 compared to the SU7 sedan released in March 2024. To recall, the SU7 then collected 50,000 pre-orders in 27 minutes and about 90,000 in the first 24 hours. Since then, the company has delivered more than 272,000 units of this model. Judging by the first figures, the expectations of the head of Xiaomi are fully met.
Xiaomi YU7 will be offered in three versions: Standard, Pro and Max. The base model received rear-wheel drive, one electric motor with 315 horsepower and a range of up to 830 kilometers on the CLTC cycle. The Pro version offers all-wheel drive with two motors with a combined output of 489 horsepower and a range of 770 kilometers. The flagship Max with 681 hp, acceleration to 100 km/h in 3.2 seconds can travel up to 760 km thanks to a 101.7 kWh NMC battery.
Prices for the new Xiaomi YU7 range from 253,000 to 329,900 yuan (roughly $35,300 to $46,000).
