Xiaomi unveiled the design of the SkyNomad, a smart SUV with a flexible interior.

A day after announcing its new automotive sub-brand, SkyNomad, Xiaomi released the first official teasers of its upcoming SUV and revealed additional details about the project. Company founder Lei Jun confirmed that the new model will be the first in a series that will be developed alongside the SU7 and YU7 series.

According to Lei Jun, while the SU7 and YU7 were designed as "driver's cars," the SkyNomad is conceived as a "smart SUV with flexible space." He stated that these are two distinct approaches that Xiaomi has been developing for five years to meet different user needs.

The Xiaomi SkyNomad is a spacious SUV, but it's not a typical family minivan or a strict business car.

It's not just for "stay-at-home moms," or just for the "business elite," or "geeky creatives." It's for the people behind all those labels—those who live consciously and fully. These might be civil servants, engineers, or entrepreneurs. They have careers, but they're not obsessed with them; they have families, but they don't limit themselves to just home. From Monday to Friday, they're professionals, on weekends, they're best friends with their children, and on vacation, they're explorers, ready to hit the road at a moment's notice.
They don't just want "the more, the better." They care about whether a single car can adapt to all social roles. They don't need to assert themselves through a car, but they clearly understand that this car is smart, comfortable, and they feel incredibly free inside it at any time and in any environment. They have taste, they understand the product, and they are willing to pay for genuine innovation. These are the people who, upon seeing swivel seats and a face-to-face mode, will say, "Oh, that's interesting!" rather than just, "Wow, that's so cool."

The model's key feature will be the new Xiaomi Kunlun Architecture platform. It features a completely flat floor and a system of long rails, allowing for quick and flexible interior layouts. Xiaomi believes the car should serve not only as a means of transportation, but also as a mobile workspace, a place to relax, a family area, or a space for traveling and camping.

Although the company still hasn't officially revealed the powertrain's technical specifications, numerous leaks indicate the SUV will feature a hybrid system with an extended range of 1,500 km. The SkyNomad's unveiling date hasn't been announced yet, but rumors suggest it could be unveiled as early as July 30th.
