Xiaomi SU7 turned out to be the most profitable long-term purchase

The China Automobile Dealers Association (CADA) has published a ranking of the resale value of electric cars and hybrids one year after purchase. Among all models, the first Xiaomi electric car deserves special attention, which has lost almost no price in 12 months.

In the category of purely electric models, the first place was taken by Xiaomi SU7 - its average price on the secondary market is maintained at 88.91% of the initial price. This is the best result among all Chinese electric cars. In second place is the Aito M9 (84.45%), and closing the top three is the Li Auto MEGA with a score of 79.58%.

The high resale value of the SU7 can be explained by several factors at once. First, the model has received a lot of positive feedback for its design and equipment. Secondly, high demand and long waiting periods for new cars encourage buyers to look for this car on the secondary market, which stabilizes prices. The launch of the new Xiaomi YU7 crossover hasn't changed the situation yet: the SU7 is still hard to get without a wait of several weeks.
Other popular models with good price retention include the Tesla Model X and Model 3, Zeekr 009, Hongguang Mini EV and Smart #1. These cars have an average price retention of between 70 and 78%. At the bottom of the rankings are the Avatr 12, BYD Song PLUS and Xpeng X9, all of which have resale values below 70%.

In the plug-in hybrid category, the Aito M9 took the top spot, showing an annualized value retention of 85.23%. It is followed by the Porsche Cayenne E-Hybrid and the Tank 700 New Energy. However, unlike the electric vehicle segment, hybrids show slightly less price stability in the aftermarket.
