Volvo ES90 Becomes Company's Most Autonomous Electric Car
Volvo has officially unveiled the ES90, an electric version of the S60 sedan. The company itself calls it an adaptive fastback with a spacious interior and high ground clearance typical of SUVs. It is also the concern's most autonomous electric car.
The Volvo ES90 is the company's first electric car on an 800-volt platform, and it uses lighter components to reduce the overall weight of the car. According to the company, the new model has a range of 700 kilometers. The maximum declared speed is limited to 180 km / h, and acceleration from zero to 100 km / h takes 3.9 seconds. When connected to a 350 kW charger, you can get energy for 300 kilometers in just 10 minutes. Charging the 106 kWh battery from 10% to 80% takes 20 minutes.
The ES90 uses the same Volvo Cars Superset hardware and software platform as the EX90, which allows for over-the-air updates to be rolled out to all of the company's electric cars as needed. It also uses a pair of NVIDIA DRIVE AGX Orin modules, making it the most powerful Volvo ever in terms of computing power.
The Volvo ES90 is equipped with a large set of sensors: one lidar, five radars, seven cameras and twelve ultrasonic sensors for active safety systems that can help the driver avoid collisions and dangerous situations on the road. The panoramic roof provides 99.9% protection from ultraviolet radiation, but an electrochromic version with the ability to control the degree of tint is also available as an option.
The electric car is already available for order in Austria, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the UK. By the end of this year and next year, the car will become available in more countries.
