The Podbike electric pedal car returns from oblivion
The Norwegian company Phase Energy has revived the interesting Frikar electric pedal quad bike, later renamed Podbike. After the bankruptcy of the previous manufacturer, the model was modernized and prepared for release under the new name TwoZero Classic.
The classic design with a dome-shaped cabin remains, but the electrical system has been updated. The pedals are directly connected to a generator that powers two motors on the rear wheels, and a rechargeable battery provides additional power for speeds of up to 25 km/h.
The velomobile weighs about 92 kg and can accommodate one adult and up to 160 liters of cargo or an optional child seat. No driver's license or vehicle registration is required to ride it.
Phase Energy plans to produce 180 units, with the first 20 already assembled and ready for shipment. The remaining 160 will be assembled at a Czech factory from available parts, after which production of the Classic will be discontinued. At the same time, the company is preparing a new line of 15 models for 2027–2028.
