Toyota unveils two-seater electric car with solar charging
The Japanese automaker has unveiled a concept for a compact city electric car. The FT-Me model is designed for two people, takes up minimal space in a parking lot, and in some countries does not require a driver's license to drive.
The electric car is just under 2.5 metres long and weighs just 425 kg. Its speed is limited to 45 km/h, which allows it to be classified as a Voiture Sans Permis vehicle in France. This means that it can be used by teenagers aged 14 and over without the need for a driver’s license.
According to Top Gear, the FT-Me can travel at least 100 km on a single charge. Solar panels built into the roof can increase the range to 30 km if the car is in direct sunlight during the day.
With the passenger seat removed, items up to 1.6 metres long can be stored inside. And the panoramic view around the car improves visibility for the driver, making it easier to park and navigate in city traffic.
Plans to release an electric car have not yet been announced.
