Toyota unveils flagship bZ7 electric sedan with Chinese roots
The model, developed by the GAC-Toyota joint venture in China, is designed to compete with market leaders and, according to the company, marks a new stage in the Japanese auto giant's electric strategy.
The new sedan is 5,130 mm long, making it slightly longer than the Tesla Model S and BYD Han L. From the front, the car resembles the new Camry and Crown models.
The bZ7 can be called Toyota's most technologically advanced electric vehicle. It is the brand's first model to use Xiaomi's smart ecosystem called Human x Car x Home, which allows you to control your smart home system directly from the car's multimedia screen or smartphone. A lidar is installed on the roof, which will be used in the latest Momenta 6.0 intelligent driving system.
The technical specifications are also based on partnerships with Chinese companies: the electric vehicle will use HUAWEI electric motors and the HarmonyOS operating system. The base version has a power output of 282 hp and a top speed of 180 km/h.
According to preliminary information, the price of the electric car will start at $28,000.
