Tesla has patented an inflatable spoiler to improve the aerodynamics of the Cybertruck

Tesla continues to search for a solution to one of the key problems of its Cybertruck electric SUV — trailer towing efficiency. In a new patent application, the company describes a unique inflatable deflector that will help improve the car's aerodynamics and increase its range.

According to the patent text, this spoiler has a collapsible design that includes a system of air chambers and blowers. The spoiler is attached to the Cybertruck body in various ways, including magnetic fasteners and quick-release clamps.

Its task is to optimize airflow by reducing the distance between the car and the trailer, which should increase efficiency, especially during long trips at high speeds.

The spoiler unfolds when a trailer is attached to the car; otherwise, it remains folded, preserving the pickup's unique angular shape. The inflatable spoiler is currently in the patent stage, and nothing is known about its release.

This is not Tesla's first attempt to increase the Cybertruck's range. The company previously released an additional battery pack costing $16,000. However, this bulky add-on took up space in the cargo area and did not deliver the promised range.
