The electric pickup truck received a five-star rating from the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). It joins the company's other models, including the Model Y, Model 3, Model X and Model S. All of them received a similar rating.

In testing, the electric pickup received five stars for driver protection in frontal crashes, four stars for passenger protection, and an overall score of five stars for side crash tests. In the rollover test, the vehicle scored four stars with a rollover risk rating of 12.4 percent.

Despite its high scores in crash tests, the Cybertruck's design and materials, especially its stainless steel body and sharp corners, have raised concerns. The NHTSA suggests that the electric car's rigid design could make it more difficult to absorb impact energy, which could increase injury risks for pedestrians.

That said, the Cybertruck has had to be recalled seven times since its release. The list of problems included a delayed rearview camera, faulty wipers, insufficiently reliable interior trim, a sticking gas pedal, and inconspicuous signal lights.
