The American startup Telo has shown the capabilities of the MT1 compact electric pickup truck. It turned out that it can not only carry cargo, but also drift. Despite the dimensions comparable to the Mini Cooper, the car is equipped with a dual-motor all-wheel drive system with a power of 500 horsepower.

During the tests, the company's engineers demonstrated a special mode that disables the front motor and allows the MT1 to easily skid. In addition to the “charged” version, Telo offers a single-engine rear-wheel drive version with a 300 horsepower motor and a range of 418 kilometers.

Its starting price is $41,250, making it one of the most affordable electric trucks on the market. The company has already raised $6.8 million in investment and received more than 5,000 pre-orders. Before mass production, the MT1 will have to pass certification tests in the U.S., and the company will have to solve issues with production capacity.

If all goes according to plan, the MT1 could be the first truly compact, powerful and affordable electric truck with drifting capabilities. But for track racing, Telo recommends replacing the off-road tires with cheaper tires so you don't go broke on rubber.
