Skoda seven-seat crossover about to be green-lighted - report

We haven't heard much about Skoda's seven-seat crossover lately but a new report is indicating it is about to be green-lighted.

According to company insiders who spoke to Autocar, the model will be launched in late 2016 and be priced to compete with the Hyundai Santa Fe.

The crossover will reportedly ride on the MQB platform and feature an optional all-wheel drive system. This setup should give the model "lots of off-road capability" as well as an impressive towing capacity.

Engine options remain unconfirmed the model is expected to be offered with a variety of familiar petrol and diesel units starting with a turbocharged 1.4-liter petrol.

Skoda is also working of a variety of other models but it appears they have ruled out a coupe or sports car for the time being.
