Renault has shown a concept electric car with motors in the wheels
The French automaker has unveiled the 5 Turbo 3E, an all-electric interpretation of the iconic 1980s hatchback that was highly popular on race tracks and among rally event fans. It was one of the first production cars with motor-wheels.
Renaul's new concept features motors built directly into the wheels to improve maneuverability and driving dynamics. It also uses a vertical handbrake, giving the car additional drifting capabilities.
Two 200 kW motors with 540 horsepower allow the car to accelerate from zero to 100 km/h in just 3.5 seconds. The top speed of the electric car reaches 270 km/h. It will also be equipped with an 800V installation, which allows the battery to be charged from 15 to 80% in just 15 minutes using a 350kW charging station.
Although the car is still a concept, the company's specialists are confident that such solutions can change the idea of how electric cars should look and function in the future.
