Polestar 3 outperformed Lucid and GM in terms of energy efficiency on the road
The Polestar 3 electric SUV has set a new Guinness World Record for the longest distance traveled on a single charge. The car traveled 935 kilometers on UK roads, exceeding its stated range by 230 km and proving that large electric cars can also be energy efficient.
Three drivers took turns at the wheel, and the entire trip took 22 hours and 57 minutes. The drivers changed every three hours to maintain a steady pace. The average speed was about 40 km/h. The route ran along regional roads and divided highways, and all conditions were recorded by official representatives of the Guinness Book of Records.
A production version of the Polestar 3 Long Range Single Motor, equipped with a 107 kWh battery and a 295 horsepower electric motor on the rear axle, was used for the record. With an official range of 706 km, the SUV reached this mark with 20% of its charge remaining and continued driving even after the display showed “zero,” stopping only at a charging station.
The average energy consumption was 3.19 km per kWh, making the Polestar 3 more efficient than even the Lucid Air Pure sedan. This result shows that even a large family electric crossover can dispel the myth of low range.
