The Japanese company has confirmed that the new model of the GT-R sports car will not appear on the market before the end of the decade and will be equipped with a hybrid powertrain. A fully electric version is not yet considered due to technical limitations.

Under the restrictions, the car company means low autonomy and performance compared to classic gasoline autos. By the release of the new model, engineers will focus on the combination of a turbine V6 and electric motor, which will allow the car to travel about 113 kilometers only on electric traction.

The hybrid version of the GT-R will get traditional lithium-ion batteries. The company has also hinted at a potential collaboration with Honda, where the GT-R could share a platform with the new Acura NSX.

The timing of the model's release remains in question, as GT-R electric car prototypes have yet to meet autonomy requirements. Right now, the all-electric version is only capable of one lap at the Nürburgring before recharging, while the Tesla Model S Plaid can handle three laps.
