The electric Mitsubishi Eclipse turned out to be a rebadged Nissan.
Mitsubishi has announced the new 2027 model year Eclipse Sportback electric vehicle. Although the company calls this vehicle "all-new," in reality, it is simply a rebranded version of an electric vehicle from another Japanese brand.
The Mitsubishi Eclipse Sportback was actually based on the new Nissan Leaf. Mitsubishi itself officially confirmed that the electric car was developed jointly with Nissan as part of a collaboration between the companies.
The changes primarily affected the exterior design. The new model differs from the original Leaf in its front and rear bumpers, lighting, brand logos, and new alloy wheels.
The technical components remain unchanged. Inside, there's a 75 kWh liquid-cooled battery, a NACS connector for Tesla charging stations, and fast charging with a capacity of up to 150 kW. Charging from 10% to 80% takes about 35 minutes.
Mitsubishi hasn't yet disclosed range or pricing. For comparison, the new Nissan Leaf, depending on the version, has a range of 417 to 488 km, and its starting price in the US is $29,990.
