Mercedes-Benz Recognizes the Need for Physical Buttons
Mercedes-Benz has decided to bring physical buttons back to its cars after customers criticized the company’s shift toward ubiquitous touchscreens. The manufacturer acknowledged that controlling the car via screens and hidden menus proved to be inconvenient.
That said, the brand isn’t abandoning large displays entirely. New models will retain the massive MBUX Hyperscreen, which spans nearly the entire dashboard. But now, familiar buttons and switches will reappear alongside it.
We’re talking about key functions that require quick access: they’ll be brought back to both the center console and the steering wheel. According to management, this is a very important compromise between the digital interface and controls, which are considered more convenient.
The company explains that users appreciate large screens but do not want to completely lose tactile control. The new GLC and C-Class will be the first models with the updated systems and are set to launch as early as late 2026.
