MINI and Deus Ex Machina have created a unique electric sports car
MINI and Deus Ex Machina have unveiled the Skeg concept. It is an electric sports car inspired by MINI John Cooper Works racing models. In pursuit of dynamics, the car has lost 15% of its weight while retaining the same power as the standard version.
According to the creators, Skeg was inspired by the philosophy of surf culture. The body has been almost completely redesigned: steel and aluminum elements have been replaced with lightweight fiberglass, which has improved acceleration. The motor has a power output of 190 kW or 258 horsepower.
The interior of the concept car is also in the spirit of surf culture. It features wetsuit holders, specially designed luggage compartments, and neoprene fabric seats.
The car is equipped with a 54.2 kWh lithium-ion battery and an aerodynamic kit from the production version. The range reaches 250 km, and acceleration from zero to 100 km/h takes 5.9 seconds. Thanks to the reduced weight, the range can exceed 410 km, and the acceleration time to 100 km/h will be reduced to 5.5 seconds.
