Lamborghini has delayed the release of its first electric car by many years
Lamborghini planned to start producing full-fledged electric cars after 2025, and a year ago even showed a Lanzador concept with a 1 MW engine. Like many other companies, the Italian automaker has revised plans to electrify its cars.
Lamborghini originally planned to introduce its first electric car in 2028. But now, the company will continue to focus on hybrid technology, which will allow it to smoothly adapt to changes in the market and customer demands. The release of the first electric car is delayed until at least 2029, as the market, according to the company, is not yet ready for such changes. Lamborghini CEO Stephan Winkelmann said that current demand does not justify a move to an all-electric series in the coming years.
Winkelmann emphasized that infrastructure development and improved battery technology remain critical to the transition to electric vehicles. The company intends to observe the dynamics of demand and technological progress.
For now, Lamborghini is focused on releasing hybrid models and maintaining the unique driving experience of its cars.
