Lamborghini has canceled the release of its first electric car
Lamborghini has decided not to rush into a complete transition to electric cars. The company previously acknowledged that its customers are not yet ready to give up the familiar emotions associated with classic internal combustion engines. As a result, one of the brand's most anticipated projects has been canceled.
This refers to the production version of the Lanzador EV concept, which was planned for release in 2029. Lamborghini CEO Stephan Winkelmann said that buyer interest in a fully electric supercar was “close to zero.” According to him, modern electric cars do not provide the same emotional response, including the characteristic sound of the engine.
Instead of the Lanzador, the company will create a plug-in hybrid. Lamborghini has already worked in this direction before. For example, the Revuelto and Urus models received hybrid powertrains. By 2030, the entire model range of the brand will be hybrid, while the company intends to keep internal combustion engines for as long as possible.
Lamborghini is not abandoning the concept of producing electric cars altogether. The company emphasizes that a fully electric model may appear later, but only when the technology can offer the desired level of excitement and there is demand from customers.
