LG and Harman unveil new generation of automotive displays
LG and Harman have unveiled new technologies for automotive displays. Judging by their presentation, new panels with one of the useful features of home theater systems will soon appear on the market, as well as the world's first OLED display with “dual view.”
Harman Ready Display is positioned by the brand as the first HDR10+ certified car screen on the market. According to the developers, it will provide cinematic image quality even in difficult lighting conditions from different viewing angles.
The panel, manufactured using Samsung Neo QLED technology, will be available in three versions: NQ3, NQ5, and NQ7 (the main difference being the diagonal size of the matrix). It is not yet known which automakers will be the first to install the new type of screens in their products.
LG, in turn, presented an OLED screen for cars that can display two streams of content at different viewing angles. For example, such a display can simultaneously show navigation information for the driver and entertainment content for the front seat passenger.
According to the company, the optimized pixel structure of Dual View OLED ensures that the driver's touch control of the navigation screen does not interfere with the passenger's video viewing. This effectively means combining two screens into one. The timing of the display's market launch has not yet been announced.
