The Kia EV2 electric crossover turned out to be more affordable than expected
Kia has officially opened orders for the EV2 electric crossover in Europe, and the price of the new model has come as a pleasant surprise. While everything else is getting more expensive, the South Korean brand has decided to set the price even lower than expected.
The model is built on the E-GMP platform but uses a 400-volt architecture to reduce costs. Two battery configurations will be available: a 42.2 kWh battery with a range of up to 317 km and a 61 kWh battery capable of traveling up to 453 km on a single charge. The electric car supports 118 kW fast charging, allowing it to recharge from 10% to 80% in just half an hour.
The EV2’s interior borrows premium features from higher-end models. It also features a dual 12.3-inch display panel and a separate touchscreen for climate control.
Standard equipment includes the new Lite infotainment system, which supports smartphone-based navigation. Despite its compact size, the car offers best-in-class rear legroom and a 403-liter trunk.
In Germany, the base model starts at €26,600, which is significantly lower than the previously projected €30,000. The first deliveries to customers are scheduled for May of this year.
