Kia has unveiled the EV4 electric sedan
Kia has unveiled the global version of its EV4 electric sedan at the New York Auto Show. It is a four-door model designed to compete with the Tesla Model 3.
Externally, the EV4 resembles the previously released EV6 and EV9, but with sharper sporty features. The front end is adorned with vertical headlights with pixelated optics. The fastback roof line stands out on the side, while at the rear there are lights and a two-piece spoiler. Depending on the equipment, the EV4 is equipped with 17-inch or 19-inch wheels.
The interior is minimalist, with a 30-inch digital unit at the front, combining two 12.3-inch displays and one 5-inch display for climate control. The operating system supports OTA updates, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and voice assistant. The interior is equipped with dual-zone climate control, heated and ventilated front seats, and a heated steering wheel.
Technically, the EV4 is based on the E-GMP platform with a 400-volt architecture. All versions use front-wheel drive and a single 204 hp electric motor. The base Light version is equipped with a 58.3 kWh battery with a range of up to 378 kilometers. The Wind and GT-Line versions offer an 81.4 kWh battery and a range of up to 531 kilometers (no exact figures yet for the GT-Line). Fast charging from 10 to 80% takes up to half an hour.
