The updated Hummer EV can ride “crab” and share a charge
The updated Hummer EV for the 2026 model year retains its giant size and recognizable design, but is noticeably nimbler, smarter and slightly faster. The new King Crab mode noticeably improves the electric vehicle's off-road maneuverability. And it can also share its charge with other electric cars or different devices.
The new Hummer comes in two body types: a pickup truck with an open trunk and a regular SUV. The electric car will be available in Carbon Fiber Edition with an exclusive matte paint job, 22-inch wheels, carbon fiber elements, black trunk lid and improved dynamics. According to the manufacturer, this is the fastest Hummer in history: acceleration from a place to 100 km/h takes only 2.8 seconds. Increased acceleration and speed are achieved due to improved firmware and updated hardware.
One of the novelty features is the King Crab mode: when activated, the rear wheels rotate faster than the front wheels. This increases maneuverability on narrow areas of rough terrain. It is important that this function will also be available to owners of models 2022-2025 through a firmware update.
The proprietary Super Cruise system has been improved, which can now automatically realign the lane depending on the route. In addition, the suspension has been reconfigured for improved comfort. The electric car has also been given a bi-directional charging feature, which allows it to be used as a mobile power source.
Production of the Hummer EV 2026 will start at the end of the year. Prices have not yet been revealed, but judging by the improvements and general trend, they are unlikely to remain at $99,000 for the base 2025 model.
