Gordon Murray S1 LM becomes the most expensive new car ever sold
The Gordon Murray S1 LM supercar has set a record as the most expensive new car ever sold at auction. During bidding in Las Vegas, it went under the hammer for an impressive $20,630,000, which at the current exchange rate is approximately 1.567 billion rubles.
The price also includes a 500-page monograph on the creation of the car. Only five copies of this model were produced. The S1 LM is based on the ideas of Gordon Murray, who paid special attention to the low weight of supercars. The body is made of ultra-thin carbon fiber with a thickness of only 0.6 mm, and the car weighs 957 kg.
Under the hood is a 4.3-liter Cosworth V12 engine with over 710 horsepower, reaching 12,100 rpm. It is paired with a six-speed manual transmission.
The supercar also features gold Inconel exhaust insulation, a three-seat layout with the driver in the center, light handbrake and pedals, and a gear lever made of quartz crystal with oil frozen inside. The buyer also had the opportunity to participate in the final test drives and influence the car's settings.
