New Buick hybrid crossover travels nearly 1,600 km without stopping
American automaker Buick has unveiled its new Electra E7 crossover, which focuses on maximum range and comfort on long journeys. The model is designed for those who are concerned about range and do not want to plan their route based on the availability of charging stations.
The Electra E7 has a total range of 1,600 km. This is achieved thanks to the SAIC-GM True Dragon Plug-in Hybrid Pro hybrid system, which combines a 1.5-liter gasoline engine-generator, a 165 kW electric motor, and a lithium-iron-phosphate battery.
The crossover can travel up to 210 km on electric power alone, after which the internal combustion engine kicks in. With regular nightly recharging, the owner will be able to drive around the city almost exclusively on electricity, using gasoline only for long trips.
The Electra E7 also includes an advanced driver assistance system based on Momenta R6 with lidar and radar. In addition, there is an active suspension with continuous stiffness adjustment, which scans the road 500 times per second and adjusts to its unevenness in advance.
There is no information about the price of the new model yet.
