Chinese company FAW has unveiled the Bestune Pony EV, a tiny electric car priced at around $4,900. It seats two people and lacks advanced technologies such as autopilot or other advanced systems, as the main focus was on reducing costs.

The updated 2026 Pony retains its compact kei car-style design with two-tone paintwork. LED lights have been added. At just 3,000 mm long and 1,500 mm wide, the new Pony EV is even more compact than BYD's smallest (and best-selling) electric car, the Seagull.

The electric car is equipped with a 42 hp rear motor and an 18.11 kWh battery, providing a range of 222 km. The basic version includes a digital panel, air conditioning, Bluetooth radio, and parking sensors. Higher trim levels will get a 10.1-inch multimedia system and a Deepseek-based AI assistant.

The Bestune Pony EV will be available in five trim levels, priced from 34,900 yuan (about $4,900) to 45,900 yuan (about $6,300).
