Popular BYD Models to Get Ultra-Fast Charging
BYD has begun rolling out ultra-fast charging to its most popular electric vehicles. Previously, the technology was only available in top-of-the-line models, but it will now be offered in mass-market models as well.
The first to receive the update will be the Yuan Plus crossover, known outside China as the Atto 3. The fast-charging system, with a power output of up to 1,500 kW, allows the battery to be charged from 10% to 70% in just 5 minutes. The battery charges to 97% in 9 minutes. Even at -30 °C, the process takes about 12 minutes.
The new generation of the Yuan Plus will feature 57.5 kWh and 68.5 kWh batteries with a range of 540 km and 630 km on the CLTC cycle, respectively.
The dimensions of the updated Yuan Plus have increased to 4665 x 1895 x 1675 mm, with a wheelbase of 2770 mm. Versions with 268 and 322 horsepower will be available.
The new model will debut at the Beijing Auto Show on April 24. The company hopes to regain buyer interest thanks to fast charging and an increased range. According to available information, 223,906 units of the Yuan Plus series have already been sold in 2025.
