BYD has released the first images of the updated 2027 Seal 06 electric sedan. One of the key changes is expected to be the transition from conventional cameras to a more advanced lidar system for the autopilot and driver assistance systems.
One of the major changes is the roof-mounted lidar. The current version only features cameras integrated into the proprietary God's Eye ADAS and DiPilot 100 systems, but BYD has decided to add more advanced sensors to the new model.
According to certification documents, the vehicle's dimensions are 4870 x 1890 x 1495 mm, and the wheelbase has been increased to 2820 mm. The maximum driving range is also expected to increase from 545 to 630 km.
The updated model will feature two electric motor options: 120 and 240 kW, up from the current 110 and 160 kW. The company will reveal battery prices and specifications closer to launch.
For comparison, the current Seal 06 EV starts at around $16,200, while its main competitor, the Tesla Model 3, starts at $34,800 in China.
