BMW's most popular electric car has become more powerful and has a longer range
BMW has unveiled an updated version of its most popular electric car, the i4. The 2026 model has received significant improvements, from its appearance to its enhanced powertrain.
The car now uses silicon carbide (SiC) inverters, as in the larger i5 sedan. These components make the system more resistant to heat and increase the range.
For example, the i4 eDrive40 version with 18-inch wheels can travel about 536 km, which is 24 km more than the 2025 model. With 19-inch wheels, the range will be 494 km (an increase of 19 km). The i4 M60 now delivers 510 horsepower, and in My Modes Sport mode, up to 592 horsepower, allowing it to accelerate to 100 km/h in 3.6 seconds.
Prices start at $57,900 for the i4 eDrive40 and go up to $70,700 for the top-of-the-line i4 M60. The xDrive40 Gran Coupe version will cost at least $62,300.
