Alibaba and BMW to jointly create AI for cars

According to Bloomberg, Alibaba and famous automaker BMW will join forces to develop automotive artificial intelligence. The AI will be created by Banma, a company financed by the Chinese tech giant.

BMW's goal is to create an intelligent personal assistant with voice recognition and trip planning features. The artificial intelligence is expected to be able to give the driver parking recommendations and provide real-time information about traffic lights. Such AI-assistant is planned to be introduced in new car models of 2026, produced in China.

According to Alibaba representatives, Qwen's actual AI model is already being used by car brands such as Xpeng, Zeekr and Leapmotor. Over the past few months, the company has been actively developing in the field of AI and intends to invest about $52 billion in this area. The exact date of presentation of the automotive AI assistant has not yet been announced.
