BMW reveals design of M-series electric sports cars

At the 24 Hours of Le Mans, BMW unveiled the M Concept Neue Klasse. This is the first glimpse of the all-electric family of M sports models. This concept is expected to serve as the basis for the future electric M3, which, according to preliminary reports, will be released under the name BMW i3 M.

The new model boasts a noticeably more aggressive design compared to the standard Neue Klasse models . At the front, the signature radiator grille and headlights are combined into a single element, while a new trimaran-style bumper improves aerodynamics. Similar design features are also used at the rear, where three-dimensional Track Lights and a large spoiler stand out. According to the company, this design will be the hallmark of future BMW M electric models.

The concept's key technical feature is its four-motor powertrain. Each motor drives a separate wheel and is controlled by its own electronics via the M Dynamic Performance Control system. This approach allows for precise distribution of power between the wheels, improving the car's handling in real time. BMW claims these are the most powerful electric drives ever used in an M vehicle.
While exact specifications are not yet disclosed, company representatives previously stated that this configuration is potentially capable of generating approximately 1 MW of power, equivalent to approximately 1,360 horsepower. The vehicle is also built on an 800-volt architecture and will feature a traction battery with a capacity of over 100 kWh, which should ensure not only high performance but also a long driving range.

The concept's interior also emphasizes the future model's sporty character. It features new bucket seats, natural trim materials, and, for the first time in an M car, black nubuck leather on the steering wheel and interior trim.

The production version of the BMW i3 M is expected in 2027.
